Sentinus Team R&D provides students with an opportunity to gain experience of research and development in an industrial context.

Teams of 4 – 6 AS level (or equivalent) students are linked with a local company to work on a live R&D problem, with support from a link company engineer.  The programme commences in October each year when student teams meet their company engineer to be introduced to the R&D problem.  Over the following months, through site visits, in-school research and with support from one of the local universities, they carry out an assessment of the problem and develop a potential solution to the problem.  Each team also writes an industrial report on the project.

The programme concludes in April with a celebration event when teams present their work to teams of expert assessors from industry who evaluate their chosen solution and provide feedback on how it performs against the original brief.
