Sentinus, in partnership with Construction Futures NI, is giving schools the opportunity to participate in a project based learning programme focusing on the design and planning of new construction development sites, with a central theme of Sustainability.
Construction Futures strives to be an industry driven force for excellence through Innovation, Inclusion, Sustainability, and lifelong learning, ensuring a brighter future for all involved in construction. While the nature and the design of proposed construction sites will be designed by professional teams, there is an opportunity to engage with young people to develop a vision for what these open, green construction sites might look like in a finished project.
This primary school programme will showcase the past, present and future of the Construction Industry in NI and help young people gain an understanding of the importance, the skills and the job roles within construction. Commencing with a practical workshop at your school, delivered by Sentinus, pupils will embark on a future construction project.
This project will allow teachers to link classroom learning to all areas of the World Around Us area of learning, including History, Geography, Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Each school will be provided with activities and resources to help develop their project ahead of the celebration event.
Schools participating in the programme must attend and display their project work at a celebration event, taking place at the Sentinus STEM Experience Day.
