Seagate Young Innovators is one of the largest events of its kind in the United Kingdom. It is a major annual event designed to celebrate the achievements of young people in the areas of science and technology and to raise public understanding within the area. The event comprises exhibitions of science and technology project work from schools in the primary and secondary sectors. In 2008 more than 600 pupils between the ages of 8 and 18 years participated in the event with many more visiting the exhibition.

Schools have the opportunity to compete for places to represent Northern Ireland in major National, European and International science and engineering competitions.

Overall Winner
Seagate Young Innovators 2008 
Jonathan Downing from St Patrick's Grammar School, Armagh will represent Northern Ireland at the Intel ISEF in Reno, Nevada, May 2009.  Seen here with Gerry Nolan, Intel Ireland (left) and John Spangler from Seagate Technology.
His project was a quick release car jack.  Jonahthan's teacher Philip Coyle will also attend the ISEF competition in Reno.



  
Young Engineers for Britain Overall Winner was James Morgan from St Colman's College, Newry, pictured above with John Spangler, Seagate Technology.  He will represent Northern Ireland at the UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair in London.
