Sentinus SETPOINT Northern Ireland
Junior Industry Challange

Target Group: Years 1 – 7

The Junior Industry Challenge provides a stimulus for the development of links between primary schools and local business and industry.  It also offers an opportunity for schools to accredit this type of project work which may be already underway in the school.

The project is based on an industrial visit to a local company, where pupils look at various aspects of the business including product development, production processes, marketing and advertising. On return to school they then develop a cross-curricular project based on the business, this work can be taken to Bronze, Silver or Gold Level as desired and can include workbooks, exhibition materials, models of product, development of a mini-enterprise, own products and much more.

Projects are judged by representatives from business, with all Gold Level projects being invited to attend a Final Exhibition at Seagate Young Innovators. The Junior Industry Challenge can be undertaken on a selected pupil, class or whole school basis as required.
