Young Innovators 2015
This year we are hosting the regional Big Bang Northern Ireland event in Ulster University, Jordanstown. With just under two weeks to go, the event is really taking shape with over 150 projects (individual or groups of students) registered for the competition. The students are going to be competing for over 80 different awards. The Grand Awards will include entry to international Science and Engineering fairs including Big Bang UK in Birmingham and Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona. The Special Awards have been sponsored by Universities and Companies from Industry and the winning students will receive a Glass Trophy and a monetary prize.
For those schools who are visiting on the day, we have plenty going on. We will be hosting four hands on workshops for KS2, KS3 and KS4 students ranging from Mobile Applications Development to our very own Flying School. On top of this, we have three Science shows including “Record Breaking Science” from The One Show’s Dr Marty Jopson where he will be delving into the science behind his recent record attempts. We have invited 23 Interactive Exhibitors to come along and engage the visiting students in a range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities.
This event is open to the public, and if you have a spare couple of hours, we would really love to see you come along and have a look at what the future of STEM in Northern Ireland has to offer.
A special thanks is reserved to those companies who have sponsored special awards for the event, and those who are going to be coming down on the day with their stands to engage the students!
