F1 in Schools is a competition which challenges young people to design and build a model of a Formula 1 car. In addition, they are required to produce a project portfolio, visual display and verbal presentation. Teams generate a small amount of sponsorship from a local business to allow them to build a team brand, including team tee shirts, overalls or caps and decals for their cars. Cars are manufactured from pre supplied balsa of foam blanks and finished cars are powered by compressed CO2 and raced on a 25m track, watch the video below to get a flavour of the excitement of race day.
The programme concludes with a the Northern Ireland Regional Finals when teams compete for a range of prizes. Details of the Regional Finals will be coming soon.
