Nuffield STEM Research Placements
Target Group: Year 13
Managed in Northern Ireland by Sentinus, the Nuffield STEM Research Placements Scheme allows science and technology students to take part in science and engineering based research and development projects in industry or research institutions during the summer vacation. This placement offers students an opportunity to gain four to six weeks of valuable hands-on experience within an industrial research environment. Students' travel expenses are reimbursed and, depending on family circumstances, some students may be elligible for an £80.00 per week support payment.
On completion of their project, students produce an industrial report, present their work to an audience from education and industry and have their work accredited with a CREST Gold Award. The programme is available to students from schools and FE colleges in the first year of a post-16 science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) course.
