Junior Industry Challenge
Target Group: Years 1 - 7
The Junior Industry Challenge is a Sentinus initiative which aims to assist the development of links between primary schools and local business and industry, resulting in a greater awareness of the local community among primary pupils.
The project is based on an industrial visit to a local company, where pupils look at various aspects of the business including product development, production processes, marketing and advertising. On return to school they then develop a cross-curricular project based on the business. This work can be taken to Bronze, Silver or Gold Level as desired and can include workbooks, exhibition materials, models of product, development of a mini-enterprise and their own products.
Projects are judged by representatives from business, with all Gold Level projects being invited to attend a Final Exhibition at Sentinus Young Innovators. The Junior Industry Challenge can be undertaken on a selected pupil, class or whole school basis as required.
